Erasmus+ Studies (SMS) 2023-2024 - Application

Documentation to be sent to FCT NOVA

Learning Agreement - Before the Mobility

- Must be filled out on the Online Learning Agreement (OLA) platform.

After the Learning Agreement - Before the Mobility (LA-BM) is created and filled out, the student does not sign it, does not submit it, downloads the pdf, and sends it by email to the DRI (div.ri.outgoing@fct.unl.pt), to be verified if all fields are correctly filled out. After validation by the DRI, the LA-BM must then be "SIGNED AND SUBMITTED" on the OLA platform by the student and will go directly to the Coordinators responsible for signing on the OLA.

  • The student should consult the tutorial (HERE) on how to register and fill out the LA-BM on the OLA;
  • The LA-BM is only valid after the Coordinator of the Course or the Erasmus Departmental Coordinator of the student's course signs it;
  • Check who signs on the OLA: Coordinators to be placed in the OLA, according to the Department (pdf);
  • The student should download the LA-BM in PDF format after it is signed by the FCT Coordinator and send it to the DRI by email, to create their access to the contract issuance database. The student must include their full name, student number, and mobile number in the email

      The deadline for sending the LA-BM to the DRI will be the same deadline that the UA gives the student to formalize the application with them.

      For example, if the UA informs the student that they have until June 1st/November 1st (1st and 2nd semester, respectively) to send them the documents they request, it will be until June 1st/November 1st that the students have to send the aforementioned document to the DRI.

        • Contacts of Course Coordinators (pdf)
        • Contacts of Erasmus Coordinators of the Department (pdf)

          It is the responsibility of the student, together with the Course Coordinator and/or Erasmus Departmental Coordinator of the student's course, to verify academic recognition through:

          • Consultation of the curricular units available at UA during the study period;
          • Preparation of a study plan that should contain the UCs to be taken at UA (table A of the LA-BM) and their accreditation at FCT NOVA (table B of the LA-BM).

          PLEASE NOTE: The formalization of the application at DRI does not exempt the filling out and sending of all documentation requested by UA (even if it implies duplicating documentation).

          Prerequisites

          UA Language requirements

          In cases where proof of a minimum language level is required and students do not have official certificates to prove it, it has been created the possibility, together with ILNOVA-Institute of Languages of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, for FCT students applying for Erasmus+ next year to take a "language proficiency test", whose result may be used by students or even by DRI to confirm your language skills with UA.

          Conditions for taking the "language proficiency test" at ILNOVA:

          • the proficiency test can be taken for the following languages: German, Spanish, French, and English;
          • Consult ILNOVA price table (HERE);
          • To enroll, students must contact the ILNOVA secretary directly, identifying themselves as FCT NOVA students selected to undertake an Erasmus+ mobility period. They can do so in the following ways:
          • In person – Torre A, 1st floor – Monday to Thursday, from 11am to 6pm
          • By email – ilnova@fcsh.unl.pt
          • By phone – +351 21 790 83 82
          • The language test should be scheduled as far in advance as possible, so that ILNOVA can coordinate the tests with the various interested students.
          • The test results will be sent to the DRI, which will deliver them to the student and UA if requested.
          • If UA has its own model to be certified, the student must send it to DRI for evaluation of the possibility of signing it.
          • If the proficiency test result is below the minimum level required by the destination university, then the student will be responsible for presenting their situation to the host university and seeking alternatives to obtain the necessary qualification within the deadlines stipulated.

                          Please note that not all students will need to take these tests, but we advise everyone to urgently inquire about the specific language requirements at the universities they have chosen as their destination, so that they can obtain certification if necessary within the required deadlines.

                          Language Test Online Linguistic Support (OLS)

                          Under the Erasmus+ Program, the European Commission has contracted an online support service for participants in long-term mobility activities (i.e. mobilities between 2 and 12 months). The OLS will consist of the following:

                          1. Language proficiency evaluation test for students (mandatory) – before the start of mobility
                          2. Language course (optional) – at the beginning of mobility
                          3. Language proficiency evaluation test for students (mandatory) – at the end of mobility (two weeks before the end of mobility)
                          4. OLS language evaluation tests and courses are free for students.
                          5. Students will receive an invitation to take the first language evaluation test in their email. If the language proficiency level obtained is below C2, the student will take the language course in the language they took the first test in. If the language proficiency level is equal to C2, the student can choose the language in which they want to take the language course.
                          6. Article 6 of the Erasmus Mobility Contract provides for OLS and its mandatory nature.

                          Medical assistance abroad

                          To have medical assistance abroad, you will need to request the CESD (European Health Insurance Card), which is valid for three years, at the Citizen's Shop or Social Security. For more information about this card, please consult the website http://www.seg-social.pt/pedido-cartao-europeu-seguro-doenca
