The future of industrial automation.

The MSc in Robotics Engineering and Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (MeRSIM) offers innovative training in intelligent manufacturing and autonomous robotic systems, with a program recognized at national and international level. It aims to fill gaps in the training of professionals for the factories of the future, with a focus on autonomous robots, collaborative solutions and distributed manufacturing systems.

Aimed at students with diverse backgrounds, MeRSIM provides an advanced and flexible education in Robotics and Intelligent Manufacturing Systems.  This master's degree aims to intensify research, development and knowledge and technology transfer relationships with companies and other entities and contribute to the promotion of science dissemination initiatives.

  • This master's degree provides students with close contact with new methodologies, tools or technologies for the development of robotic solutions and/or intelligent manufacturing systems;

Curriculum

For whom

  • To apply to the Master's Degree in Robotics Engineering and Intelligent Manufacturing Systems, students should have a 1st cycle in the areas of Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related areas;
  • Applicants with similar backgrounds will be evaluated based on their CV and work experience;
  • All candidates will have to be approved by the scientific committee, and may be subject to an interview, in order to assess their preparation and motivation for the Master's course.

Career opportunities

  • Companies in the field of industrial robotics: design and installation of manufacturing production lines (e.g. automobile); software development for product quality control; programming of logic controllers; robot programming in a 3D environment, intelligent process optimization systems;
  • Mobile robotics companies: Autonomous Land, Air and Maritime Systems applied to different areas (industry, agriculture, sea, …);
  • Service Companies: development of intelligent software for decision support, data science, programming, among others;
  • Empresas de consultoria, banca/finanças.

About the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering

Founded in 1993, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC) is a teaching and research unit of NOVA FCT dedicated to advancement, research, quality education, and providing the community with specialized services in the field of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
