NOVA Laboratory for Computer Science and Informatics

Mission and Structure

NOVA LINCS develops cutting edge scientific research in key areas of Computer Science and Informatics, in cooperation with the international research community, knowledge and technology user communities, and local academic/industrial partners and other public institutions.

 

  • Computer Systems - All computing devices, from servers to mobile phones and tiny sensors, are becoming interconnected in a ‘Internet of things’ world.
  • Multimodal Systems - Multimedia computing is a key enabling technology for communicating ideas and data between humans and machines.
  • Intelligent Systems - Computational reasoning about complex situations improves the quality, scope, and efficiency of the IT infrastructure.
  • Software System - “Software is the new physical infrastructure of the information age”. Everything depends on robust, cheap, and secure software.
