Thematic Lines

• The Advanced Manufacturing (AM) Group focuses on advanced manufacturing processes, namely metal additive manufacturing, fusion and solid-state welding, friction stir processing, composites machining, and non-destructive testing.

• The Design, Experimentation and Simulation in Engineering (DESE) Research Group focuses on distinct specific scientific domains encompassing topology optimization models, fluid dynamics, bond-slip models for different structural materials, multibody system dynamics, optical and digital measurements, theory and methodologies of design, geometric dimensioning & tolerancing, 3D modelling and prototyping, fracture mechanics, fatigue and failure analysis, alongside inverse and reserve methods for engineering.

• The Sustainable and Digital Factories & Services (SDF&S) Research Group has vertical scientific research areas, that focus on specific themes of industrial systems design, such as operations management, supply chain management, decision making, human- system interaction and ergonomics, occupational safety and security, quality engineering and management like green and circular economy, and resilient organization, risk management, lean management, innovation, digitalization and entrepreneurship.
