The Grand Auditorium of NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT NOVA) will be one of the stages of the 2nd edition of the Capuchos Music Festival (FMC). The festival, which returned to Almada in 2021, celebrates music with a series of concerts featuring national and international renowned artists and a cycle of talks. From June 16 to July 10, FCT NOVA will host five of the 17 musical performances, including the inaugural opening and closing concerts.
There is a 50% discount for students, staff and professors of FCT NOVA, for the concerts that will take place in the Caparica Campus. These tickets can be purchased at the Convento dos Capuchos (Wednesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.), at the Romeu Correia Municipal Forum (Wednesday to Friday from 2.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.) and at the FCT NOVA Grand Auditorium, with the ticket box open one hour prior to concert start time.
This edition of the FMC will feature guest appearances by the world-renowned Vienna Chamber Orchestra, and renowned musicians such as harpsichordist Pierre Hantaï, pianist Konstantin Lifschitz, bandoneonist Héctor Del Curto and violist Gérard Caussé. Representing national talent will be the Gulbenkian Orchestra, the DSCH – Schostakovich Ensemble, the Sete Lágrimas and the traditional Mirandese music group Galandum Galundaina. Other musical genres represented are, for example, tango, with Astor Piazzolla compositions.
The program additionally includes a cycle of Talks moderated by Carlos Vaz Marques and will feature Manuel Alegre, Lia Gama, António Mega Ferreira, Jorge Vaz de Carvalho, Mónica Baldaque and Hélia Correia as guest speakers.
The artistic direction is in charge of Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro, considered one of the most prestigious Portuguese pianists nationally and internationally.
