NOVA FCT PhD Student Awarded by the Palaeontology Association

Roberta Martino, a PhD student in Geology at NOVA FCT, has been awarded the Sylvester-Bradley Award by the Palaeontology Association (PALASS).

The grant, amounting to €1,800, will directly support her project titled "Study of one of the last Hippopotamus amphibius in Europe and insights into the evolution of the endemic hippopotamus of Sicily."

Thanks to this funding, Roberta will be able to visit the palaeontological collection at the Sedgwick Museum of Cambridge, where she will study fossil remains of H. amphibius from several Late Pleistocene fossil sites in England.

This award is a further testament to the outstanding work conducted at NOVA FCT, a leading institution in scientific research that plays a key role in generating knowledge of global significance.
