26-03-2025

Elvira Fortunato, professor in the Department of Materials Science and researcher at CENIMAT of NOVA FCT, continues to earn distinctions. For the fifth consecutive year, the scientist has been named 'Most Trusted Personality in Research and Science' by readers of Reader’s Digest Selections.

This recognition stems from the Trusted Brands study, conducted annually since 2001, which aims to give consumers a voice in evaluating such a crucial factor as trust.

The award reinforces the professor’s impact on scientific outreach and public awareness of the importance of science for social progress.

Elvira Fortunato joins a group of personalities recognized by readers, including António Costa (Politics), José Rodrigues dos Santos (Literature and Journalism), and Eduardo Barroso (Medicine). Meanwhile, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa stands out as the most trusted personality over the past 25 years.
