17-02-2025

On February 13, the first contract signing session of 2025 took place, involving the integration of 17 new members across various departments and divisions at NOVA FCT. The Director, José Júlio Alferes, highlighted the significance of this event, emphasizing that "the school is a home built by all the people who contribute to the pedagogical, scientific development and excellence of the institution."

During the session, contracts were signed with researchers under the FCT Tenure programme, namely Bruno Sousa Cardoso da Costa Marreiros, Mónica Isabel Gonçalves Carvalheira, and Cristiana Andreia Vieira Torres (Department of Chemistry). This reinforcement reflects the Faculty's ongoing investment in promoting excellent research and ensuring the stability of its teams. “NOVA FCT currently has around 70 faculty members and researchers under this scheme, which reflects the Faculty's financial commitment to providing better conditions for its researchers,” stated José Júlio Alferes. Patricia Alexandra Fortes da Silva (Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering) was appointed as an Assistant Researcher after being part of the CEEC Institutional Programme - Associated Lab.

Among the new members, Ana Vital Morgado Marques Nunes (Department of Chemistry) and Salvatore Signorello (Department of Computer Science) were promoted from researchers to assistant professors. Izunildo Abreu Cabral and Inês Abreu Ferreira (Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering) signed contracts as assistant professors. Pedro Miguel Fernandes Lourenço and Pedro Alexandre Vicente Ramalheira de Azevedo (Applications and Development Division) signed contracts as IT technicians. Several employees successfully completed their trial periods and signed contracts as senior technicians, including João Augusto da Cruz Lima (Communication and Image Division), Ana Cristina de Oliveira Pólvora (Planning and Quality Division), Pedro Henrique Mousinho do Rosário Santos (Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering), Joana Dâmaso Araújo da Silva, Gabriela Lurdes Santos Louro Lobato Nunes (Department of Computer Science), Liliana Cláudia Gonçalves Venda, and Maria do Céu dos Santos Costa (Public Procurement and Heritage Office).

The strengthening of NOVA FCT’s staff aims to ensure the continued development of the school, both in academic and research areas, thus meeting the challenge of maintaining the excellence of its educational and scientific offerings.
