20-09-2024

Nídia Lourenço, from the Department of Chemistry, and Ana Catarina Baptista, from the Department of Materials Science, signed contracts on 19th September as Lecturers, further consolidating their ties to the School.

The Director of NOVA FCT, José Júlio Alferes, highlighted the success of the FCT-Tenure programme, which facilitated these appointments. During the ceremony, he emphasised the "excellent work of the departments in preparing the applications," which resulted in a 90% acceptance rate, well above the national average of around 50%. In his speech, he also reaffirmed the commitment that "the path forward is for the School to have more staff members with permanent contracts linked to the School."

This is a key initiative by NOVA FCT, aimed at aligning teaching needs with the interests of researchers, with the goal of strengthening the pedagogical component and improving the quality of education provided to the student community.
