Pedro Casinha and Tiago Henriques, students from NOVA FCT, were part of the national university canoeing team that returned from the World University Canoeing Championship with a new record of medals.
The team won a total of 11 medals. Tiago Henriques was crowned university world champion in the K1 marathon. He also took home third place in the K1 5000.
Pedro Casinha, who held the title of university world champion in K1 200 meters, was selected this year to represent Portugal in K2 alongside André Moreira (Escola Superior de Saúde do Vale do Ave). The duo secured the gold medal in both the 200 and 500-meter distances.
The World University Canoeing Championship took place from August 21st to 24th in Montemor-o-Velho.
