NOVA FCT experiences growth in applications and academic excellence

26-08-2024

The increase in filled positions and the rise in the average grades of applicants to NOVA FCT are the main outcomes of the first phase of university admissions.

The 1,058 new undergraduate students represent 96.1% of the available spots at NOVA FCT, a growth compared to last years numbers (94.8%). Additionally, most of the new students chose NOVA FCT as their first choice.

On average, our new students applied with a grade of 16.2 out of 20, coming from secondary school with an average grade of 16.8, slightly higher than last year.

These new students predominantly come from the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (840 are from the districts of Lisbon or Setúbal), but we have students from every district in the country, including the autonomous regions of Madeira and the Azores. Within the Metropolitan Area, more students are from the northern bank than from the southern bank (465 from Lisbon district and 375 from Setúbal district).

In total, 6,124 candidates applied to NOVA FCT. The results were announced this weekend by the Directorate-General for Higher Education for the National Access and Admission Competition to Higher Education.
