Inês de Brito Pereira, from NOVA FCT's Integrated Master's in Electrical and Computer Engineering, was the winner in the ‘Telecommunications’ category of the Best Thesis Award from APDC - the Portuguese Association for the Development of Communications.
The student won the award with her dissertation ‘Algorithms for physical layer authentication’. The thesis explored radio frequency fingerprinting, one of the new forms of device authentication. This is among he attempts to respond to the security issues that have grown with the increased use of wireless networks and devices.
This initiative honours the best master's dissertations by young university students in three different areas: information technologies, telecommunications and media. It is developed in partnership with the Consortium of Engineering Schools and Academies participating in the UPskill Programme. It is sponsored by Axians Portugal.
The awards were presented during the 33rd Digital Business Congress.
