22-09-2022

The DuPont Library, in Braine l'Alleud in Belgium, has since the end of August the name of Elvira Fortunato, current Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education and former professor and researcher of NOVA School of Science and Technology | FCT NOVA.

DuPont (E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company), American multinational corporation and the second largest chemical company in the world (in terms of capital volume), in Braine l'Alleud, has the tradition of honouring scientists and dedicating a room to them, with a plaque with their name and a small biography with the greatest achievements of the highest personalities linked to science.

"It is a tradition here in the house that the rooms have scientists of the same nationality as the workers. As I recently joined, I had to choose a Portuguese scientist to name our library," explained Joana Pinto, the most recent researcher at DuPont, who was responsible for nominating the personality to honour. "It gives me immense pleasure to know that every day that someone from FCT NOVA, a woman, Portuguese, and truly inspiring will be in sight of anyone who arrives and leaves our office", she added.

The company with more than 200 years of history has been a promoter of innovation and science, being able to adapt and respond to the challenges of society.
