"Smart Heritage City", a European project aimed at improving the management of historic urban centers, is one of the six finalist projects of the first edition of the ILUCIDARE Special Prizes.
The NOVA School of Science and Technology is one of the institutions that developed the technology that is currently being tested in the Spanish city of Ávila - considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 2018, the project awarded the European Year of Cultural Heritage Seal.
The "Smart Heritage City project" is funded by the European Union and involves an international consortium composed of seven institutions from Spain, France and Portugal, which include research centers, universities, foundations, technological institutes and municipal authorities.
The ILUCIDARE Special Prizes within the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards aim to identify and promote best practices in cultural heritage-led innovation and international relations, as well as support and scale-up outstanding achievements. The European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards are run by Europa Nostra in partnership with the European Commission since 2002 and are widely recognised as Europe’s top honour in the field of cultural heritage.
