On December 2nd, a mobile unit was stationed at Caparica campus in order to carry out free HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Syphilis screenings to the academic community, as well as to distribute information and sexual prevention materials and to promote health literacy.

The free screenings for sexually transmitted infections have been offered by the MOVE-SE mobile unit of the GAT - Group of Activists in Treatment, a non-profit non-governmental organization that aims to contribute to UNAIDS goals as well as to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely SDG # 3 Good Health and Well-Being. GAT's MOVE-SE mobile unit enables fast, anonymous, confidential and free screenings, promoting access to prevention and sexual health in a more effective and integrated way in the community.

This initiative was promoted by NuPride, a student group from NOVA School of Science and Technology Student Association. This group of students is committed to fighting for the eradication of inequalities and raising awareness amongst the academic community through dialogue and debate on LGBTQ+ themes, fostering citizenship. Promoting healthy and safe sexuality is one of their several core goals.

Throughout the day, 62 people were tested at Caparica campus. "Due to the high turnout of the campaign, a new campaign is being planned soon", says NuPride.
