The 'Tour of Knowledge', developed by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education, starts today, July 27, in Oliveira de Azeméis, in conjunction with the “Volta a Portugal” (Bike Tour of Portugal).
The 78th edition of the “Volta a Portugal” has been imposed as an unique sports event, fulfilling the crossing of the country and asserting itself as a vehicle for learning the territory and its culture; thus becoming an unique travel knowledge.
The Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education intends to follow the race "queen" of the national cycling with '' Tour of Knowledge '' an initiative developed in conjunction with the Tour of Portugal, RTP and collaboration in various higher education institutions.
This initiative aims to promote the knowledge of the Portuguese territory, its cultural, natural, scientific and technological heritage; encourage closer ties between higher education institutions; emphasize the importance of training and knowledge necessary for the responsible use of natural resources and the preservation and enjoyment of nature and value the assertion of regions as knowledge contexts creating supportive environments for social, scientific, economic and cultural innovation.
