The "Prize for Best Dissertation in Structures", awarded by the Section of Structures of the Department of Civil Engineering, aims to encourage the quality of Master's dissertations in structures presented in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (UNL) and to promote its public recognition.
The third edition of this Prize, awarded by the Section Structures of the Civil Engineering Department of the New University of Lisbon, took place on June 15, 2016 and was sponsored by CSI Portugal, represented by Eng. Maria Joao Espada, the IPQ, represented by Maria João Venceslau and by Pearson Spain & Portugal. At the ceremony also attended Prof. Eng Isabel Martins, representative of Gustave Eiffel Professional School in Luniar, school that formed one of the finalists. The Management of FCT NOVA was also represented at the highest level, by the presence of its Dean, Professor Fernando Santana.
The finalists of the competition were:
Pedro Nuno Monteiro Martins Frade, with the dissertation "Modeling of corrosion effects located in reinforced concrete structures";
Nuno Rafael da Silva Peres, with the dissertation "Linear formulation of the Generalized Beam Theory for curved shaft bars";
Hugo Miguel Bento Rebelo, with the dissertation "Numerical Simulation of Blast Effects on Fibre Grout RC Panels";
David Ventura Manta, with the dissertation "A finite element geometrically exact three-dimensional bar including warpage."
In this edition, the Award for Best Dissertation in structures was awarded to Master David Ventura Manta.
Integratred Master in civil Engineering
