PhD student Dario Rodrigues awarded the "2013 New Investigator Travel Award" at the annual meeting (psfebus.allenpress.com / eBusSFTM / MEETINGS.aspx) of the Society for Thermal Medicine (USA) in Aruba. The winning work is related to the design and manufacture of a new miniaturized sensor for measuring brain temperature in real time and in a non-invasively way. The sensor comprises an antenna which picks up the thermal radiation and converts the microwave range at room temperature using a radiometric circuit. This technology is already in clinical trials.
