Erasmus+ Traineeships (SMT) - How to find your traineeship

The students are responsible for finding their internship location and for initiating contacts with entities, in accordance with their interest and the work they want to develop. 

 

Countries where internships can take place

All European Union member states, accession countries and potential candidate countries (North Macedonia, Turkey and Serbia); the EFTA-EEA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway); and partner countries, including the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the Faroe Islands, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino and the Vatican State. 

 

Receiving Institutions (IA) eligible for traineeships

Internships can take place in a company or in a Higher Education Institution. In the latter, the student will not be carrying out a period of studies but will acquire work experience.

Any public or private organisation actively operating in the labour market or in the fields of education, training and youth, such as:

  • a public or private small, medium or large enterprise (including social enterprises);
  • a local, regional or national public body;
  • a social partner or other work world entity, including chambers of commerce, artisan/professional associations and trade unions;
  • a research institute;
  • a foundation;
  • an educational institute/school/centre (of any level, from nursery school to the highest level of secondary education, including vocational training and adult education);
  • a non-profit organisation, association, NGO;
  • an entity providing occupational guidance, vocational counselling or information services;
  • a Higher Education Institution from Programme Countries that has an ECHE.

Not eligible as receiving institutions: EU institutions or other EU bodies, including specialised agencies (the full list of these bodies can be found on the website https://european-union.europa.eu/institutions-law-budget/institutions-and-bodies/institutions-and-bodies-profiles_pt ; organisations managing EU programmes, such as Erasmus+ National Agencies (to avoid possible conflict of interest and/or double funding).
