The Master's Degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering provides an advanced training in chemical and biological process technologies. Students learn to develop, optimize and design innovative and economically competitive chemical and biological processes with a view to their industrial implementation.
Leveraged on a strong tradition, Chemical and Biological Engineering professionals are at the forefront of the challenges for sustainability, in the development and production of clean energy sources, in biodegradable and sustainable materials, in the recycling processes of by-products and waste, in air quality and control of global warming, in the availability and universalization of pharmaceuticals on a planetary scale at an affordable cost.

The Master's Degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering is guided by a student-centered teaching methodology, with a strong practical and teamwork component, fostering autonomous work in complementarity with in-person teaching.
In addition to the specific subjects, students are encouraged to build a transversal profile by developing their critical thinking, flexibility of reasoning and self-learning capacity. We continue to foster student-teacher proximity, widely recognized by NOVA FCT's Chemical and Biological Engineering students, and mentoring programs with young researchers.
