Youth-led Ecozoic (NOVA FCT) helps secure climate action award

09-04-2025

Ecozoic – Youth Association for the Environment and Human Rights (NOVA FCT) is one of the partner entities in the “Cardal: Eco-Living Lab” project, winner of the ideas competition promoted by WWF Portugal in the municipalities of Almada, Braga, and Cascais.

The project aims to develop climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies, focusing on the rehabilitation of Parque Urbano do Fróis in Caparica. The initiative is based on a participatory approach, encouraging local community involvement, with special attention to vulnerable groups. Starting in May, 250 volunteers will contribute to biodiversity enhancement efforts in the park.

Developed by Lifeshaker, in partnership with Ecozoic (NOVA FCT) and CLAW Conservation (Egas Moniz School of Health & Science), the project has now been awarded €5,000 to support its implementation.

The competition is part of the European project LIFE ASAP, led by WWF Sweden in partnership with WWF offices in Romania, Hungary, and Portugal. Its mission is to fund small, youth-led initiatives aimed at accelerating climate action in European cities.
