14-01-2025

NOVA FCT will host two roundtables on January 23 as part of the curricular unit Society, Sustainability, and Digital Transformation, an initiative aimed at all second-year undergraduate students. The event will foster critical reflection on the impacts of science and technology on contemporary society, as well as explore how digital transformation can contribute to the development of a more sustainable and ethical future.

The first roundtable will begin at 10:00 AM, featuring Maria Paula Diogo, Board Member of the Foundation for Science and Technology and professor at NOVA FCT, Francisco Santos, Vice-President of the Foundation for Science and Technology and professor at the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), and Miguel Miranda, Executive Director of AIR Centre. The second roundtable, scheduled for 2:30 PM, will include Mário Figueiredo, professor at IST, Mariana Gomes, President of the Último Recurso organization, and Emília Araújo, professor at the University of Minho. The panels will address issues related to the challenges of digital transformation and sustainability in the current context.

The conferences, which will take place in the Grand Auditorium, are part of the NOVA FCT Curricular Profile, promoting an innovative pedagogical approach focused on continuous assessment and the development of complementary skills that are increasingly important for the job market. During the Intersemester Period, which runs between the first and second semesters, students have the opportunity to engage in formative activities that broaden their professional and academic perspectives.
