On 11 December, NOVA FCT paid tribute to Professor Virgílio Cruz Machado, former Dean of the School, for his contributions to the intitution’s history.
The ceremony was held in the Hall of Acts of Building IV, where the professor's portrait, painted by Portuguese artist Carlos Possolo, was officially unveiled. The painting now joins the gallery of former deans, a space that celebrates the history and individuals who have shaped NOVA FCT’s evolution.
A full professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Professor Cruz Machado is recognised for his contributions to the development of NOVA FCT in both teaching and academic management. The event highlighted the legacy he leaves behind at the institution.
The ceremony was attended by the current and former leadership, faculty members, students, friends, family, and staff, who shared words of gratitude and admiration for his work.
