The Back to the Future – Building with Sustainable Local Traditional Materials (Back2Future) project, led by Paulina Faria, a professor in the Department of Civil Engineering and researcher at CERIS, has won the Erasmus+ 2024 Award in the Higher Education Partnership Projects category.

This project, in collaboration with partners from Lithuania, Poland, Denmark, and Greece, proposed a strategy for implementing sustainable traditional materials of local origin, incorporating recycled products and industrial waste, in the construction sector. It also focused on capacity-building for students and teachers.

The award was presented at the second Erasmus+ Gala, held on 12 December 2024 in Viana do Castelo. The event was attended by the Secretary of State for Administration and Educational Innovation, Pedro Dantas da Cunha, local authorities, representatives from the Erasmus+ National Agencies, and other prominent figures in the Education and Training sector in Portugal.
