Caetana Carneiro (Futsal) João Xavier, André Moura, José Miranda, Tiago Duarte, Tiago Pereira (Karate), Beatriz Neves, Diogo Silva (Tennis) and Mafalda Soares (Taekwondo) are all NOVA FCT students and are part of the NOVA delegation that will be at the European University Championships in Hungary from 8 to 24 July.
NOVA is represented by 33 student-athletes, making it the second largest Portuguese delegation competing in this edition.
Making its debut is the Futsal team, which is taking part in the competition for the first time, after winning the Lisbon University Championship, also for the first time, and after the bronze medal at the National University Championships.
In Karate, João Xavier will be looking to improve on his 5th place in Croatia in 2016, and in Taekwondo we have the presence of the current national university champion, Mafalda Soares, who has already won two bronze medals in other university championships, in Poland and Croatia.
As for Tennis, both the men's and women's teams will be repeating a feat they have achieved many times before at the European University Championships.
