Rita Galhardo, from NOVA FCT, is part of the team that won an Honourable Mention at Starters Academy 2024

Pioneering the encouragement of innovation and entrepreneurship among the student community, providing essential tools for those who want to create a startup, the 2024 edition of the Starters Academy recently held its final challenge.

Rita Galhardo, a student of the Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, was part of the DormDash team, which received an honorable mention. The group, which also included Luca Schmidt from Nova SBE and Renato Ramos from NOVA IMS, proposed a solution to the student housing problem. The project aims to transform the student real estate market, seeking to meet the needs of students looking for affordable accommodation and landlords looking for trustworthy tenants by implementing a platform that simplifies the entire process.

The Micdrop team emerged as the grand winner of the Starters Academy 2024, with their secure and proactive system designed to protect and manage artists' voices. The Jetaway team was also recognized, earning the second honorable mention for their project aimed at reducing the use of empty private jets.
