Curricular programme atract international students to NOVA FCT

06-03-2024

On March 1, 90 international students from 19 countries around the world were welcomed to a session that introduced them to NOVA FCT and a little of the academic spirit. The day began with a performance by anTUNiA, who entertained the participants.

"Tunas ( students muscic ensembles of university students ) are a very nice and fun tradition," says Eleanora Marcheselli, who came from Italy to start this semester at the Caparica Campus. "We chose NOVA FCT because, as well as being a School of reference, it offers different curricular units that appealed to us," she explained. This is the same opinion held by Jakub Heušovský. The student from Czechia came to NOVA FCT to study Computer Engineering because the school offered an interesting programme. "Naturally, the country also helped," he explains with a laugh.

Maths is Suda Yilmazlar's field of study, and the Turkish student is looking forward to the experience. "I hope to learn, have fun and get to know the culture. I've even tasted the famous egg tart", she said, smiling.

Simon Böhly is studying Engineering Physics. He came from Germany and chose NOVA FCT because it is "a leading university with interesting master's programmes that will help diversify my knowledge", he explained.

The session was attended by the Dean of NOVA FCT, the Vice-Dean for the Pedagogical Council, the Coordinator of the Teaching Mobility and Internationalisation Division, representatives of the Students' Association, and Erasmus Coordinators from the Departments.

The new students will have an intense week of welcoming activities that will include a presentation of the Library, tours of Lisbon, a sports day and much more.

NOVA FCT currently has 411 agreements with universities in 57 countries, and in the 2023/24 academic year the School welcomed 218 international students.
