PhD student from Physics Department wins best poster at the 5th Engineering Doctoral Congress

Ricardo Silva, PhD student of the Physics Department and researcher of the Surface Science and Vacuum Technology group of CEFITEC, was distinguished with the best poster award in the Physics Engineering Symposium of the Doctoral Engineering Congress (DCE23).

"Achievements and developments in design and simulation of ionisation gauges" was the awarded paper, which presents an alternative design and construction for a new Ionisation vacuum gauges, which aims to suppress the lack of accuracy and the fragility of the ionisation gauges that currently exist. The paper gives an account of the simulations of the operation, based on a recently developed approach, the construction details and the first experimental tests carried out with the first and second prototypes .
