Event brings together experts to give a new view over the ocean

"NOVA AZUL - a new view over the blue" is the meeting promoted by NOVA School of Science and Technology | FCT NOVA, in partnership with MARE, which aims to establish a space to discuss and think about the Ocean.

Between March 23 and 24, a broad range of speakers will give voice to several topics related to the Ocean, such as scientific research, sustainable exploitation of marine resources, threats such as climate change and marine pollution, conservation strategies and increased resilience of the Ocean, gender equality in access to education and employment, water sports such as sailing, diving and underwater photography, environmental education and Ocean literacy. All of them essential to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and a Blue Society.

João Macedo (Surf Academia), Francisco Lufinha (Lufinha), Paula Sobral (FCT NOVA /MARE), Bernardo Queiroz (Mercedes Benz Oceanic Lounge), Norberto Serpa are among the guests you can hear during these days.

The program includes scientific lectures, a conversation with moderator about Challenges and Opportunities for the Blue Growth, a panel on the subject of the educational offer of NOVA University, related to the Ocean, and an exhibitors area, which will count with the presence of several entities and institutions that will disclose several projects and will provide interactive activities and experiences and moments of conviviality. MARE, ARNET, Instituto Hidrográfico, Portuguese Marine Garbage Association, Daughters of the Deep, Sea Riders, ecozoic, Núcleo de Surf da FCT NOVA and Eco pick will be represented in this area.

You can also receive offers such as surf lessons or dolphin watching, among many others. These prizes will be raffled among the people who attend NOVA AZUL and register through the QR code present at the event. The draw will take place on March 24 in the afternoon, before the final sunset gathering.

The event will take place in the Agora Room of the FCT NOVA Library, and is open to the public.
