NEI 2022: More than 120 researchers presented FCT NOVA investigation work

All over Europe, the night of September 30th was dedicated to the researchers and NOVA School of Science and Technology | FCT NOVA had participated in another edition of the European Researchers' Night. This year, the event was attended by the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Elvira Fortunato, the Subdirector for the Scientific Council of FCT NOVA, José Paulo Santos, the Subdirector for Innovation and Research of FCT NOVA, Eurico Cabrita, and the General Coordinator of FCT NOVA Research Centres, Luís Caires .

More than 120 researchers from FCT NOVA, in 30 activities (presential and online), distributed between the National Museum of Natural History and Science of the University of Lisbon and the Garden of Príncipe Real, had excited the visitors and provided them the opportunity to know better the work developed in the Caparica campus.

Those who visited had the opportunity to participate in our activities, that unfold the significance of logistics in the management of material flows, demonstrated the conversational agent Twiz, had explain energy poverty concept and how biotechnology can help to reduce CO2, had introduced how mathematics can help to understand and find solutions for sustainability, explained what paleoclimate changes are, that demonstrated how the production of new sustainable (naturally derived) based materials was based on the museum's collection of iridescent insects, revealed that CO2 is much more than a pollutant and can actually be very useful as an alternative carbon source, ilustrated how glass is worked and used in both science and art, and explained what microplastics are.

The European Researchers' Night (NEI) is an initiative funded by the European Commission, under the Horizon 2020 programme, and the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), that aims to bring direct interaction between researchers and civil society closer together,in order to raise awareness of the importance of scientific research. The Arts, Humanities and Sciences are presented in a creative and dynamic way. The theme of this year's edition was "Science for All (SCIEVER) - Inclusion and Sustainability".
