Ana Furtado and Clarinda Costa, PhD students in Sustainable Chemistry at NOVA, were the winners at the 13th edition of the International Symposium on Supercritical Fluids.
Ana Furtado, completing her second year of PhD, won the "3-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition" with her work on the synthesis of multifunctional high affinity materials for bioindustry applications, produced through environmentally friendly technologies such as supercritical CO 2 and mechano-chemistry.
Clarinda Costa, in the 4th year, won Best Oral Communication with her work "Supercritical CO 2 applied on the production of liposomal dry powder formulations towards the lung inflammation treatment" which showed how liposomal formulations for inhalation can be produced capable of transporting both hydrophilic and hydrophobic molecules.
