Albrecht Beutelspacher is the guest of the third edition of the “NOVA Online Distinguished Lecture Series on Mathematics”, promoted by the Department of Mathematics and by NOVA Math-Center for Mathematics and Applications of the NOVA School of Science and Technology.
The award-winning German mathematician will present the lecture “Fascinating mathematics through experiments”, on the 29th of June at 2 pm, on this link.
Albrecht Beutelspacher studied mathematics, physics and philosophy at the University of Tübingen and received his doctorate from the University of Mainz. He worked for the research department at Siemens and was a full professor of geometry and discrete mathematics at the University of Giessen.
Beutelspacher is a well-known promoter of mathematics in Germany. Author of several books on recreational mathematics and the popularization of mathematics, he was the founder of the country's first mathematics museum, Mathematikum. He has a column dedicated to the subject in the well-known scientific magazine "Bild der Wissenschaft" and moderates a popular series on mathematics on the TV channel BR-alpha.
This series of webinars aims to raise awareness of the main researchers in this area, with the presence of prominent mathematicians from around the world, providing inspiration for our comunity.
