Carla Pinheiro, professor, and researcher in the Department of Life Sciences at the NOVA School of Science and Technology was the tutor of the students Raquel Pacheco Martins, Timo Cláudio, Dieter Kolb, and Tomás Fernandes Matos, who received two awards at the 14th National Science Exhibition promoted by the Foundation for Youth.
Students from the Secondary School Dr. Manuel Candeias Gonçalves, in Odemira, presented the project “Influence of a herbicide on edaphic fauna: avoidance trials with Eisenia foetida”, which won the Porto Editora Prize, in the amount of 300 euros. They also were granted the participation award "International Wildlife Research Week" ("Swiss Youth in Science"), a week of wildlife research in the Alps.
Carla Pinheiro is one of the professors involved in the Vem Ver project promoted by the NOVA School of Science and Technology. This initiative allows any student to visit the Faculty and contact our teachers and ask questions. Due to the constraints of the pandemic, the NOVA School of Science and Technology suspended on-site visits but offers the possibility of digital meetings, via zoom, with our teachers.
