According to the Shanghai Global Academic Subjects Ranking, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa ranked in the following positions by ​​knowledge area among young European universities founded less than 50 years ago:

• Food Science and Technology - 10th position
• Business Administration - 6th position
• Political Sciences - 9th position

NOVA is therefore ranked in the European Top 10 in 5 knowledge areas of the Shanghai Global Academic Subjects Ranking, which is in line with the results recently obtained in other rankings.

Created in 2009, the Shanghai Global Academic Subjects Ranking evaluated in this edition more than four thousand universities from around the world in 54 specific areas within the Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences and Social Sciences, evaluating indicators such as published scientific articles , its impact on the respective area or the extent of international collaboration.
