Paulo Santos, student of the PhD Program in Mathematics, received a Fulbright Scholarship for Research with the support of FCT - Foundation for Science and Technology.
This scholarship is intended for PhD scholarship holders directly funded by FCT who have planned, within the scope of their training plan, to conduct a research period at a North American university or research center.
This year Paulo Santos had his master's thesis "Diagonalization in Formal Mathematics", defended in 2019, published in the "BestMasters" collection of the prestigious scientific book publisher Springer. This collection publishes the best master's theses completed in reputed universities in Germany, Austria or Switzerland. Guiding the work was Reinhard Kahle, a professor in the Department of Mathematics who is also a professor at the University of Tubingen in Germany.
