The "ePrivacidade Trocada por Miúdos" (ePrivacy for kids) initiative, launched this week, aims to sensitize children, pre-teens, teenagers and young adults to the issues of privacy and online safety.
The initiative, in addition to an annual event to mark the world day of data protection, will provide tutorials and other resources on online privacy and security; will organize an annual competition for students; and will promote the dissemination of student work on online privacy and security.
The public launch event, which took place at the Portuguese Communications Foundation on January 28, marked the International Data Protection Day with lectures and a round table on online privacy and human rights.
The "ePrivacidade – Privacidade Trocada por Miúdos" is a joint campaign of the Portuguese Chapter of the Internet Society (ISOC Portugal) and the Project Miúdos Seguros na Net (Kids Safe on the Net), which has the financial support of the Internet Society Foundation.
This initiative is coordinated by José Legatheaux Martins, professor at the Department of Informatics at NOVA School of Science and Technology, researcher at NOVA LINCS and President of ISOC Portugal, and by Tito de Morais, Founder of the Project Kids Safe on the Net.
