NOVA School of Science and Technology's 42nd Anniversary Ceremony

On November 13, the NOVA School of Science and Technology community gathered in the Grand Auditorium to celebrate the 42 years of this institution.

The celebrations began with anTUNiA's performance, followed by the film “NOVA School of Science and Technology: Bringing University and Society Together,” which presented the faculty as a platform for connecting with society and for promoting innovation.

Present at the event, João Sàágua, Rector of NOVA, stated that “FCT NOVA is an example of a global faculty capable of serving society through knowledge, both through teaching excellence and leading edge research”. The Dean of the NOVA School of Science and Technology, Virgílio Cruz Machado, in his speech stressed the results of the School: “We were delighted that at the beginning of September we were able to fulfill 100% of the first-stage vacancies and we saw the last-placed scores rise frankly from the previous year”. He added: “The Prime Ministers of Portugal and the Netherlands and the organization of the European Union Science Olympiad reflect the capacity and professionalism that already characterizes us. The results of the school's scientific production represent an indicator of a very dedicated and motivated community. ” This was followed by Pedro Horta, President of the Students Association, who congratulated the School on its ability to adapt to the needs of the times and has restructured several times despite its young age.

Duarte Manuel Costa, the student who joined the comunity this school year with the highest rating, was also called to the stage. “In addition to being a prestigious college, the campus conditions and the more humane side were two other reasons that motivated me to choose this school,” explained the student of the Integrated Master of Engineering and Industrial Management.

The celebrations continued with the tribute to Teresa Gato, the celebration and renewal of agreements with jubilee teachers, the tribute to teachers and non-teachers for the 30 years of service to NOVA School of Science and Technology and the delivery of school awards.

At the Library, the candles were blown out and toasted to the future with the help of anTUNiA.
