João Gonçalves, a FCT NOVA student, has been a member of the national beach football team since 2017 and since then he has kept on winning. The most recent achievement happened on June 29 against Spain. The Portuguese team won by 8-3 guaranteeing the gold in the second edition of the European Games-Minsk 2019.
"I would like to pass on a message to my friends and future colleagues at FCT NOVA: Do not give up something you like to do in your life because of the university, remember that with good organization, dedication and passion everything is possible. When we really want something, we find a way! I would like to thank FCT NOVA for always giving me the conditions to reconcile this sport activity with my studies, only with this flexibility I was able to fulfil one of my dreams: to become an Olympic champion for my country,"says João Gonçalves.
Last year the student had already helped the team win the championship of the Mundialito of 2018. João Gonçalves is currently enrolled in the Master in Food Technology and Safety and is already a graduate in Biochemistry from FCT NOVA.
