FCT NOVA receives the 1st Meeting of Women Mathematicians in Portugal (WM2).
The conference aims to be a meeting point for women mathematicians and to serve as a place to share experiences and knowledge. The meeting also wants to draw attention to the lack of women in prominent places in companies, universities and even in conferences and aims to create a community of solidarity that inspires the appearance of future mathematical women.
The program includes the exhibition "Women in Mathematics - History and Portraits" which recalls the history of 12 women who were important to Mathematics and to society.
WM2 is supported by the European Women in Mathematics (EWM) and the Portuguese Mathematical Society (SPM).
