Bertrand Editora publishes this month the translation of the work "The Scientists" by Rachel Ignotofsky. Aimed at a children's and youth public, the work celebrates the contribution of 52 women who changed the world in the field of science by outlining their profile and highlighting their achievements and contributions. The Portuguese edition of the work adds to the original edition (which included only 50 profiles) the profile of 2 Portuguese scientists: Branca Edmée Marques, collaborator of Marie Curie, and Professor Elvira Fortunato, for her pioneering contribution to Science. The work has the support of the Commission for Gender Equality (IGC).
"The Scientists" celebrates the feats of intrepid women, many of them almost invisible who, through audacity and persistence, have paved the way for the next generation of engineers, biologists, mathematicians, medical doctors, astronauts and physicists in areas traditionally dominated by men.
