We invite all students and teachers from elementary schools to participate in the FCT CodingFest!
"AstroKid is in orbit on your rocket and needs help repairing a meteorite-hit satellite. You can only do that if you can get to the rocket after solving some fun problems." This is the challenge of programming and computational reasoning put to all students of Basic Education in Portugal, during the week of 4 to 10 December 2017.
The FCT CodingFest platform gives participants the opportunity to learn how fun is to construct some programs that help a small astronaut accomplish multiple missions in space. The presented problems are pedagogically adapted to each cycle (1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles) of Basic Education.
Between 4 and 10 December 2017, the FCT CodingFest is the core activity of the Portuguese Code Movement for a global "Code Hour" session, followed by a set of challenges that support a national level competition between elementary schools.
The 3 schools of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles that have been able to solve proportionally more challenges with a minimum of blocks of program will receive as prize a robot and the visit to the FABLAB closest to its location. The winners will be announced at the closing session of the Movimento Código Portugal 2017, on December 10th.
