Filipe Marques, professor in the Department of Mathematics and member of NOVA Math – Centre for Mathematics and Applications at NOVA FCT, has been appointed as the centre’s representative in the Portuguese Network of Mathematics for Industry and Innovation (PT-MATHS-IN).
With research focused on Statistics and Risk Management, Filipe Marques coordinates the Knowledge Transfer and Societal Impact Functional Area at NOVA Math, contributing to bridging the gap between academic research and the economic sector.
PT-MATHS-IN, which brings together the country’s leading mathematical research centres, promotes the transfer of mathematical technology to the business and industrial sectors. It is also the Portuguese branch of the European Service Network of Mathematics for Industry and Innovation (EU-MATHS-IN).
This appointment represents an opportunity to strengthen the dialogue between Mathematics and the business ecosystem, reinforcing NOVA FCT’s commitment to innovation and the societal impact of the research developed at the University.
