Professor Virgílio Cruz Machado, President of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering of FCT NOVA, is the first Portuguese to be awarded with the "IEOM Distinguished Service Award - in recognition and appreciation of the Excellence in Leadership and Outstanding Support and Service in the Industrial Engineering and Operations Management Profession ".
It is a prize given by "IEOMSI - Industrial Engineering and Operations Management Society International", the largest and most important international association of Industrial Engineering.
