The national presentation of the INTERREG SHCity (Smart Heritage City) project was held last 6 February. INTERREG SHCity is a European transnational cooperation project involving FCT NOVA, the Santa Maria La Real Foundation, AIDIMME, the Cartif Foundation Technology Center, Nobatek, Tecnalia and the Avila City Hall.
The objective of the project was the development of an application that produces useful information for the control of tourist flows and management and preservation of heritage from data collected by cameras and sensors placed on the monuments of a city.
The application is a working tool for heritage managers, whose pilot project starts in Ávila (Spain) and will allow monuments managers to make more informed decisions, such as, when and how they should limit monuments entries by tourists.
