The first initiative of the Movimento Código Portugal ended on December 11 at the Pavilhão do Conhecimento - Centro Ciência Viva.
The FCT NOVA was present, represented by the Department of Computer Science and NOVA LINCS - NOVA Laboratory for Computer Science and Informatics, which presented various activities for children and adults, giving them the opportunity to learn how to program and sharing the respective results.
At the same time, a program of sessions and debates was held. The closing session was attended by the Professor Luís Caires, President of DI / NOVA LINCS.
The Movimento Código Portugal aims to stimulate the development of skills associated with computational thinking, which is a new form of literacy for the 21st century. The public presentation of this project was made during the FCT Coding Fest, an initiative of FCT NOVA that on November 26 brought together 250 students from 10 elementary schools for a fun "Code Hour" session.
Learn about an interactive platform to support speech therapy sessions for children, which includes computer games whose characters are controlled by the child's voice.
Learn how a computer game works and learn some basic programming concepts by changing a simple game from pre-made components.
Participate in a group activity to demonstrate the parallel computing process. All elements have to move around in a network drawn on the ground and coordinate to make decisions for the purpose of ordering a list of numbers.
Participate in a game where each player uses only facial expressions to compete with his opponent - the player who makes the best smile or the best face of rage wins the game!
