Former students Vitor Antunes and António Monteiro, Department of Civil Engineering, won the competition “Jovens Mestres em Experimentação''

FCT NOVA former students Vítor Antunes and António Monteiro from Department of Civil Engineering have been awarded the 1st prize and two honourable mentions in the competition Young Masters in Experimentation organized within the 1st Conference on Testing and Experimentation in Civil Engineering, which was held from 4 to 6 June 2016 at IST. Vítor Antunes with a dissertation entitled "Filer Influence in Mastics Bituminous Behavior" was the winner of the competition and António Monteiro with a dissertation entitled "Strengthening of Reinforced Concrete Beams with FRP External Reinforcement" was awarded the 1st Honourable Mention (Importance of the subject and its scientific development) and the 2nd Honourable Mention (Importance of the results for the practice of engineering).

The competition called “Young Masters in Experimentation” was aimed at young people below 35 years of age who have completed a master’s dissertation that includes a relevant testing and experimentation component in civil engineering or in a related area by the end of the 2014/2015 academic year. 22 dissertations were presented for the competition, reporting studies developed in different Portuguese higher education institutions, which were written either in Portuguese or English.
