After delivering the first PhDs in Computer Science granted in Portugal in the early 1980's, the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science and Technology of the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (DI/FCT/UNL) sustains a leading position in doctoral level education, with 10 PhDs granted in 2015.
In the same year of the 40th anniversary of Computer Science and Informatics at NOVA, we proudly continue to assume a leading role in higher education and research in Computer Science in Portugal.
Among the ten thesis defended, two have been developed in the context of the Dual Degree PhD in Computer Science of the Carnegie Mellon | Portugal Program.
The success of our doctoral education is grounded in a strong commitment to innovation, research, and technical leadership in Computer Science and Informatics, in coordination with the research activities of the Department’s research center NOVA Laboratory for Computer Science and Informatics (NOVA LINCS).
