In an integrated initiative in the global movement "The Hour of Code", the Department of Informatics, from the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, visited five schools, having contacted with about 190 elementary school students.
The initiative includes students from the 4th, 5th and 7th years; where participants had the chance to explore more puzzles during Christmas holidays.
The Code Hour mobilized about 200,000 events in over 180 countries, and having over 300 events in Portugal. The activity consists in running a tutorial about an hour problem-solving and programming. The available tutorials are accessible to any age and translated into over 30 languages.
The activity included the participation of João Costa Seco, Miguel Goulão, Nuno Preguiça e Catarina Almeida, Ricardo Silva (students of the PhD program in Computer Science) and Joana Pereira, student of the Integrated Master in Computer Science from the FCT NOVA.
