The president of Sichuan University, Prof. Xie Heping, delivered a "professorship" to the President of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (DEMI), FCT NOVA, which aims to develop a program of cooperation in terms of research and doctoral training.
The current program covers all scientific fields (medicine, arts, law, and history, among others) and is part of the President Xi strategy "One belt, one road", with which China intends to assert its leadership. The Sichuan University is one of the top 10 Chinese universities, covering about 80,000 students and 15,000 teachers.
