The Uterine Explorer is a system resulting from a research project of the Department of Electrical Engineering of the FCT NOVA and the Centre of Technology and Systems (UNINOVA) in the Biomedicine field.

In order to help women with fertility problems or risking a premature birth, project proposes a test consisting in capturing electrical signals of the non-pregnant uterus. To capture these signals, the test measures the electrical activity of the uterus in the Window Period used by doctors to embryo implantation in the uterus. Thus, this EMG system Uterus allows noninvasive acquisition of the electrical signal for monitoring uterine contractility and has direct application in increasing the success rate of IVF and preterm delivery prediction.
